O.o
it looks like they welded half a truck to a cabover and skipped the part where they design it or take measurements at least

I saw one of those once and thought I was hallucinating. Either that or someone in a Sierra rear-ended an NPR really hard and they just decided to roll with the punches.

That seems to be the inspiration.

I feel like welding is a stretch.

Wow. I had no idea those were a thing. Can't imagine why that wasn't successful! While I agree that this is turrible .... I kinda want one.

Awful?
You mean Awesome? I need it.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:14 |

Me too. My immediate thoughts were that it’s hideous, poorly thought-out, and I would make it my daily driver.

This is something that someone on meth in the swamps of Florida came up with, but you do you.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:16 |

It’s so ugly I have to like it.
I just want it so I can confuse people when I drive it around. They expect a smallish work truck but NOPE just a pickup
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:19 |

But...I still kind of want one
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:22 |

So ugly that it’s loveable is what a BRAT is for. This is just horrible.

Poor truck was given a really awful face transplant.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:24 |

That's pretty much the exact thought process I had. Especially if it was a 2-tone like that teal and grey one.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:27 |

Looks like the bones underneath are GMC W4/ NPR ?
I can’t figure out why anyone would think this would be useful. The W4s I’ve driven were all powered by a buzzy underpowered diesel.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:28 |

I am endlessly amused by these things, because their build is hilarious.
You think this is a modified pickup? Nope. It is not. This monstrosity is an Isuzu FRR/Chevrolet W5 chassis, which they then dropped the back half of a pickup on . I’m so not joking.
So, it’s a legit 2 tonner. It really is. Only one problem.
They didn’t reinforce any of the pickup components. So you can’t tow for shit with a ball hitch, because it screws into the unreinforced pickup bumper. And you can’t do a fifth wheel or kingpin because they used those mounting points to mount the truck bed!
It’s gloriously stupid.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:30 |

So it’s almost useless and ugly, wonderful.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:33 |

I wonder if any of them were 4WD...
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:36 |

Probably not. I don't think I've ever seen a 4x4 NPR, but that would be even more badass.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:37 |

Other way around I think. Looks like they dropped the back half of a pickup onto a cabover truck frame.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:39 |

I don’t like the brat though.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:46 |

Oh no, it is COMPLETELY useless! Because it gets BETTER.
By which I mean worse.
Notice something missing? YUP! This thing only has a single small gas tank. And it’s powered by a VERY thirsty 5.2L turbo diesel. 10MPG highway if you’re lucky.
And the cabs aren’t connected. You can actually see it in the one shot. They left the rear wall and non-opening window intact. So the fiberglass coupling the two is just a shell. The guy up front can’t interact with the guy in back.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:49 |

So - a factory crew cab dually has more utility and less ugly than this dumb thing?
And was probably cheaper too, because it wasn’t custom. Smart.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 10:56 |
|
Yeah, but it’s got a CHEVY TURBO DIESEL!
Made by Isuzu.
In an Isuzu body and frame.

Doesn’t sound very practical. Now I’m wondering all the more: who this truck is for? Sounds like the only things it has going for it are the cab design (if you’re into that) and a regular ol’ 8' bed that can carry more weight.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 11:06 |

So what I’m hearing is the only usefulness of this beast is if I’m ever forced to go on a long drive with an annoying coworker.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 11:13 |

You could get a 16 gallon tank on Silverado 3500's up to 2010(maybe higher) if you didn’t spec a larger one on cab and chassis trucks. We had one in a Duramax and it had like a 160 mile range when towing. Which sucked.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 11:28 |

Exactly the same people who THIS truck is for:
“Oh, this is a factory pickup body on a TopKick frame! So they actually did all the work to do it right then!”
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT! First of all, that one ain’t lifted. That is how tall it sits naturally . Here’s the exact same truck with the 2WD International front body.
Hope you brought a ladder! But surely it has some seriously big towing capacity, right? I mean, this is the perfect toy hauler!
Well, no . First of all, good fucking luck getting your fifth wheel up there. Forget actually setting it up right when the receiver’s six miles off the ground.
Secondly, you’re not parking it in your driveway. I’m serious. The dry curb weight is over 10,000lbs. TEN. THOUSAND. POUNDS. Empty and bone dry. By the time you fill it with 80+ gallons of diesel, you do the math. And the ‘luxury’ version with fucking ostrich skin interior can exceed 15 ,000lbs empty.
Third, the maximum GVWR by law is 25,999lbs. One pound more and it needs a CDL to be operated on the road, period. So that claimed 20 tons of towing capacity? Nope. Because you require a CDL when your GCWR exceeds 26,000lbs. Not just your GVWR. Especially for something with air brakes. Meaning your maximum legal tow without a Class A endorsement is... 12,000lbs or less.
Know what can tow 12,500lbs, carrying 7 passengers, while staying legal?
Yep. ‘04-05 GMC Yukon XL LWB when equipped with the 8.1 V8 (2WD or 4WD. ) 12,500lbs hitch pull rated with brake controller.

At least the TopKick looks kinda cool . Aesthetics aren’t this “Lieutenant’s” strong suit. Seems like the whole cab-forward thing would be exclusively geared towards customers who need that kind of utilitarian visibility/maneuverability .
![]() 02/23/2019 at 11:39 |

That’s almost as hilarious as watching the salesmen put the “full tank of fuel” in the Ram 3500 5.9 ‘s. They promised to be right back of course.
If you had a 5.9, the base fuel tank was 35 gallons. Most of them shipped with the 52 gallon tank.
Takes just a bit to fill those up.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 11:53 |

Thats pathetic. My mid sized sedan has an 18 gallon tank.
![]() 02/23/2019 at 12:02 |

They stapled two trucks together
![]() 02/23/2019 at 17:39 |

So they took an Isuzu FRR and made it worse.
When they could have just sold you an actual FRR dual cab...that Isuzu actually built.
Ah... America. You are an interesting place.

It’s probably for the best.
